2025 events in Italy

The year 2025 promises a series of unforgettable events in Italy, blending ancient traditions with modern spectacles. As part of my Erasmus project, I had the opportunity to visit the town of Orte and talk with students at Istituto Omnicomprensivo in Orte about local celebrations and festivals.
One of the topics that caught my attention was the annual carnival, organized in many Italian cities. While the most famous ones are the Venice Carnival and the Viareggio Carnival, the students from Orte told me about the festivities in the Lazio region, where colorful masks and street parades create a spectacular atmosphere. They explained that each town has its own traditions, some featuring historical dances, others symbolic battles or costume contests.
Besides the carnivals, 2025 will be a special year for Italy due to the Jubilee Year, a major religious event held in Rome. Pilgrims from all over the world will visit the Vatican to attend special masses and pass through the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica.
Another important moment will be the summer filled with music and arts festivals, such as the Opera Festival in Verona or the Umbria Jazz Festival, where international and local artists come together to create magical experiences.
In the end, my discussions with the students from Orte helped me better understand Italian culture and the importance of traditions for local communities. Italy is not just about historical cities and breathtaking landscapes but also about a vibrant atmosphere full of events that are worth discovering!
