Italian Fashion

Fashion and styling have always been my passion, so when I was selected for this mobility program, I was thrilled to be close to the birthplace of high-class fashion. I stayed in Orte, a small, charming commune 82 km from Rome. Surprisingly, my first encounter with Italian style happened there, at Istituti Omnicomprensivo Orte, where I met an Italian teacher whose bold fashion choices stood out—semi-transparent blue glasses, flared trousers, and a striped blouse. His daring style distinguished him and helped him connect with students.

Beyond this, I noticed that Italian students dressed similarly to those in my country, blending influences from rap and trap music culture with Y2K trends. Their outfits felt familiar, proving how global fashion trends transcend borders while adapting to local styles. Meanwhile, fashion in Orte was understated—casual or business casual, practical yet refined.

Switching from Orte to Rome, I noticed a shift. While Orte’s style leaned towards comfort and subtlety, Rome’s fashion was more diverse and intentional. Locals, both young and old, dressed simply yet elegantly, prioritizing quality over extravagance. Tourists, in contrast, embraced bold prints, noticeable logos, and vibrant colors. The city itself reflected this mix, blending timeless sophistication with expressive modern styles.

While visiting landmarks like the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and St. Peter’s Basilica, I observed more than just architecture—I saw a living fashion scene where every person contributed to the city’s aesthetic. Along with my classmates, I became part of this picture: the curious Romanian student discovering everyday Italian life. Instead of forcing a perfect shot, we simply observed, letting the city’s fashion and energy capture us—just as much as its monuments. Poza Poza Poza
