A day in Rome, Italy

One of the most well-known and popular cities in Europe, and possibly the entire world, is indeed Rome. Visiting the city was a true adventure, guided by two teachers from the Istituto Omnicomprensivo in Orte, the highschool that we visited during the Erasmus+ project. The whole day started early in the morning when we went to the train station in the city, and off we went. After about an hour, we arrived in the busy city of Rome. From then on, we hopped on a subway and went to Piazza del Popolo.
As soon as we arrived, we could already see the Vatican—a whole new country right in front of us, with a beautiful cathedral at its center. We explored the area and visited everything inside, with La Pietà by Michelangelo being one of the elements that inspired me the most. The next stop was Piazza Navona. Here, we had some free time to walk around, look at the shops, and, most importantly, have lunch. We had one of the best pizzas ever and then took a walk through the usually narrow but vibrant streets of Rome.
Afterward, we passed by the Pantheon and went to see Fontana di Trevi, where we tried to throw a coin and make a wish. One interesting aspect was that we didn't do it the "normal" way; instead, we tried to throw the coins while standing backward and tossing them with the right hand over the left shoulder. A complicated operation, if you ask me—but after many tries, we managed to do it.
After successfully making our wishes, we took some pictures and moved on to the next destination on our wish list: the Colosseum, one of the most important and well-known constructions dating back to the year 72 AD. Even though we didn’t have the chance to enter, since the tickets were all sold out, we still enjoyed admiring its architecture from the outside and taking multiple pictures.
With all this in mind, I can say that I absolutely enjoyed visiting Rome, especially sharing the experience with many other students whom I can now call my friends. The Erasmus+ experience was a great one, and I am grateful that I had the chance to be part of this project.
