Traditional polish food – Ionescu Sara-Yael

Poza One of the things I was most excited about on our trip to Gdynia, Poland, was traditional food. Every time I travel, I love trying new dishes, especially those authentic to the place I'm visiting. I already knew some things about Polish food since I did some research before we left, and I am happy to report that, even though my expectations were high, the taste did not disappoint.

Polish cuisine is renowned for hearty classics like pierogi, kielbasa, and bigos, offering rich flavors that showcase the nation's culinary traditions.

The thing I was most excited to try was pierogi, the famous Polish dumplings. We were given three different kinds by the incredible high school we were visiting. My favorites were the ones stuffed with meat; second place went to the ones with mashed potato filling, and then there were the ones with onion and mushrooms, which were also really tasty.

Another traditional Polish meal we tried was Polish pork chop (very similar to a schnitzel) with mashed potatoes and a side of "mizeria," which is a deliciously creamy cucumber salad

I also found out that a certain type of sweets, made by a brand called "Ptasie Meczko," is really popular, so I tried that as well. They weren't my favorite thing I tried during the stay, but they're a nice snack nevertheless.

Last but not least, one of the Polish students who was part of the project was kind enough to gift me a bag of different Polish sweets to try, and I can confidently say they were extremely delicious.

I am so thankful to have had this incredible experience, both culinary and socially, and I can't wait to try more Polish goods next time I visit.
