“Life in letters“, project materialized during the Erasmus Days programme (13th-15th of October 2022), aims to begin with meeting the new Ovidius students by announcing an invitation to its activities. The target of the event consists in cultivating the young lectors’ tastes in contemporary writers’ works. The coordinators of the project propose to bestow a passion for reading upon the participants, reframing their approach to literature as a particular form of understanding life, which cannot be normalized or cast in molds, but which should be lived, analyzed and taken accountability for. The activity will take place on 14th of October at 12.00 p.m., and will be hosted by the library of “Ovidius” Highschool. Music, the art whose images are created based on combining sounds, arises from meeting the multiple and varied human states of mind, with talent, with creative force and persistent work. It carries the human message in a specific way, downgrading in the listener's thinking and feeling states closer to those that gave birth to it, enriching it, continuously shaping its consciousness. The elaboration is based on different rules and principles from one era to another, within which different types of musical forms play an important role. Apart from the established genres of instrumental music (instrumental dances, fugue, sonata, etc..) there have also appeared works that try to imitate elements of nature as a way of suggesting, through music, certain moments in life. With attentive ears, we can realize that harmonic sound is part of the world in which we are living. The chirping of birds, the hum of bees, the sound of the sea, the haughty song of waterfalls or the moan of the wind are integrated into the echoes of our natural environment, and their effect is obvious. To trained ears, sonorities are landscapes and landscapes are sounds. The interdisciplinary activity with the theme "When the chirps of the birds become music" proposes the correlation between nature, more precisely the song of the birds and music. For example, Vivaldi composed the famous opera Op. 10, No. 3 “Il gardellino "Goldfinch", while Girolamo Frescobaldi's "Capriccio sopra Cucho" renders the charm of the cuckoo. Beethoven incorporated the sounds of the nightingale and the quail – concerto for flute and oboe – in the second movement of his 6th "Pastoral" Symphony. Wagner included the song "The Birds of the Forest" in the opera "Siegfried", and Georg Friedrich Händel beautifully reproduces the nightingale trills in his work "The Cuckoo and the Nightingale”. The interdisciplinary approach starts from the idea that no educational discipline is an enclosed field. On the contrary, this activity can be an example that connections can be established between disciplines. The target group of this activity is high school students who, divided into groups, will research and present in a preferred form, birdsong as a source of inspiration for composers of different eras. All presentations must have a musical audition for which the students will issue and debate experiences, impressions, feelings, and a surprise element such as a riddle, poem, anecdote, arithmograph, musical sudoku, body percussion, etc. The activity will take place on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at 12:30 in the Ovidius High School. At the end of the activity, the language of birds will be decoded more easily both in nature and in the exemplified musical works. By this, students will rediscover nature from a different perspective, the musical one. Prof. Crina Pavlicu |

Theatre is always a good way to learn French. The students have the opportunity to share their emotions, desires, feelings on stage and to improve their language level. This is the reason why, on the occasion of Erasmus Days, we will do the final rehearsal before participating with the troupe at the Arad Francophone Theater Festival. The colleagues of the passionate actors will be invited in our highschool’s big performance room, Friday, October 14, to support and encourage the students who are part of the school’s theatre troupe and also to wish them good luck at the Arad Festival. The activity will take place on October 14, 2022, at 14:00 in the Ovidius High School Prof. Cristina Gavrilă |
