“Ovidius” High School and 4th Senior High School of Xanthi -
members of the Network of European Blue Schools

Meeting and spending time with the students and teachers from the 4th Senior High School of Xanthi was an absolute pleasure. The hospitality we received was far more heartwarming than we could have ever imagined, as we felt welcomed not only into their school but also into their wider community. Everyone was incredibly kind, and even though we had only known each other for a few days, we shared many moments together, talking, laughing, and learning from one another. Poza

Many of our conversations revolved around the differences and similarities between our schools and education systems. Through these discussions, we realized that both our schools are actively engaged in “Blue activities” aimed at educating and raising awareness about the importance of reducing ocean pollution and protecting the marine biosphere.

While speaking with some of the teachers from the 4th Senior High School of Xanthi, I learned about the various initiatives taking place there, including multiple projects and student competitions designed to teach about the World Ocean. Moreover, everyone was more than happy to support us in our water testing activities at locations such as Lake Vistonida and the Nestos and Kosynthos rivers.

Due to our schools’ affiliation with the Network of European Blue Schools, we had the opportunity to collaborate closely with the students from Xanthi. This experience not only allowed us to explore a critical environmental issue together but also helped us develop strong teamwork and communication skills. All of this took place in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, where many meaningful friendships were formed.
