What are the objectives of the project?

• The main objective of this project is to raise awareness of the importance of freshwaters by protecting them, as well as to ensure better sustainability for the use of the resources, conservation of biodiversity and protection of aquatic ecosystems.
• Awareness of the impact of eutrophication due to pollution of freshwater ecosystems
• Information, greening and sampling campaigns for the analysis of quantitative and qualitative water parameters and for the analysis of phytoplankton in the main rivers and lakes on the territory of Iasi County - Bahlui, Bahluieț, Nicolina, Ezăreni, Ciric, Veneția, Chirița lakes, as well as the one in Anastasie Fătu Botanical Garden

What are the students working on?

• Individual research for topics to be included in the project;
• Students produce and present work on #blue themes;
• Involve students in making digital materials and promoting the results of the project on social media;
• Identification of biodiveristy in the protected area "Ramsar site Jijia Wetlands - Iasi - Small Delta of Moldova"
• Discovery and analysis of rocks (otolithic limestones) and observation of fossilized marine forms (shells) in the Repedea Geological and Paleontological Reserve - former Sarmatic Sea;
Involve students in activities such as drawing, literary and technological creations, gastronomic preparations, microscopic preparations, determination of qualitative and quantitative parameters of water;
• Determination of qualitative parameters of some food and feed used for the nutrition of fish species in the Research and Development Station for Aquaculture and Aquatic Ecology Iasi.

What is their approach?

• Conducting extra-curricular activities on own initiative on #blue themes as well as a familiarisation of #blue literacy (oceans, water) within the school community and extended family.
• Taking water samples from the Bahlui River and their analysis in the laboratories of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Protection "Cristofor Simionescu" Iasi (turbidity, hardness, alkalinity, conductivity, colour, smell, taste).
• Analysis of quantitative and qualitative water parameters, analysis of phytoplankton in the main rivers and lakes, recognition and identification of the factors causing eutrophication of waters; How are the students involved?
• Students are involved in all activities on the project, starting with creating the plan of activities.
